The Professional Year Program is a 44-week program approved by the Department of Home Affairs (DHA). It involves 32 weeks of part-time coursework and 12 weeks full-time internship at a host company that allows you to apply theoretical skills within your field of study, in a practical environment.
Within the 32 weeks of coursework, you will be covering:
Resumes, cover letters, key selection criteria, and interview techniques
Business soft skills: workplace expectations, WHS, business communications (BSB40215 Certificate IV in Business)
The internships provide you with relevant working experience through 100% guaranteed placement, which allows you to develop your essential working skills Hence, it is usually an unpaid position because the remuneration cost from the host company goes to provide training and coaching for you to develop your employability skills. However, some of the host companies might still be willing to provide a small amount, of allowances such as for travel expenses.
The highlight of this program is to give you a chance to prove to the host manager that you are worth hiring. We do have candidates who end up joining the host company as paid employees during or just after the program!
All Navitas Professional internships are formal work experience arrangements, are part of an education program, and meet the Fair Work Act 2009 requirements for lawful unpaid internships.
